Ryan Reynolds Highlander?

Ryan Reynolds Highlander has been confirmed

A Ryan Reynolds Highlander movie is currently in the works, which means that the star will be involved in yet another action role to add to his repertoire.

The remake/reboot of the Chritopher Lambert cult classic from the ’80′s is being written by the screenwriters of Iron Man and will be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who directed 28 Weeks Later. That was a well-done horror sequel, so this one may be good.

For the uninitiated, the Highlander franchise is a series of films (as well as a TV series), the first of which was released in 1986, and starred Christopher Lambert. It focusses on a group of immortals who battle to the death because ‘there can be only one’. Lambert’s character was known as Connor MacLeod of the Scottish MacLeod clan.

The original film – which co-starred Sean Connery – was not a box office hit, but it became a cult classic which spawned 4 sequels, 2 TV shows, and animated movie, and comic books. Queen famously recorded several songs for the film, including ‘Princes of the Universe’.

It’s unclear at this point if this Ryan Reynolds Highlander flick will be a remake, reboot, sequel or prequel and if Reynolds would be playing MacLeod or some new character.
