Ryan Reynolds Movies 2012

Ryan Reynolds Movies 2012 Edition

2012 has been somewhat of a quiet year for Ryan Reynolds when it comes to movies released. He’s been in the news a lot, with tabloids and gossip sites covering every nuance of his relationship with Blake Lively. And, there’s been lots of discussion about projects which will be released in 2013, including a remake/reboot of The Highlander, with Reynolds in the lead, as well as R.I.P.D. There are even rumors that Reynolds will don the Dark Knight’s cowl when Batman is inevitably rebooted in a few years.

Unlike 2011, when Reynolds had two big summer movies released (Green Lantern and the Change-Up, co-starring his buddy Jason Bateman), he’s only really been featured in one major movie in 2012.

Breakdown of Ryan Reynolds Movies 2012

Ryan Reynolds Movies 2012 Follow Me on Pinterest Reynolds’ major 2012 release was Safe House, co-starring Denzel Washington. In the film, Reynolds portrays a CIA agent in care of a ‘safe house’ in South Africa where almost nothing ever happens. He’s bored, and hoping to move somewhere exciting. He finally gets his excitement when Denzel Washington’s character – a notorious criminal and ex-CIA agent – is brought in. Washington’s character esacpes, and Reynolds finally gets to prove his mettle by going after him.

This is a different role for Reynolds. He tends to get pigeonholed as a comedic actor due to the success of romantic comedies like Just Friends and The Proposal, with Sandra Bullock. But Safe House has very little humor, and Reynolds gets to show that he has real dramatic range, as he’s demonstrated before in serious roles like Buried and Smokin’ Aces.

Ryan Reynolds movies 2012 Follow Me on Pinterest Spoiler Alert: The only other role Reynolds has in 2012 is an uncredited cameo in the Seth McFarlane directed, Mark Wahlberg-starring comedy Ted. Reynolds plays a gay character in the film. Could this be Seth MacFarlane’s commentary about DC’s comics’ revelation that one incarnation of Green Lantern is now gay in the comic books?
